Blessing of the Animals

We love our pets, and they are welcome to come to church for a special blessing.

Join us for an informal service in commemoration of St. Francis on Tuesday evening, Oct 4, 7:00 PM. Your pets are invited to attend – suitably leashed or caged – for a special prayer of blessing. A simple communion will be celebrated. This is a fun and unique family service in the parish hall, children are welcome too!

Be a part of our updated St. Philip’s Family Directory! We need you to make our directory complete. Photos will be taken at the church on June 21 from 2:30pm-8:30pm.

Click here and follow the easy directions to schedule your portrait session.

F A S T • C O N V E N I E N T • E A S Y

Church members who participate in this program will receive a free and updated full-colour photo directory free of charge.  You will also have the opportunity to order more photos for you and your family and friends.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. How long will the appointment take? From registration to taking photos and choosing your directory pose, it should take 30-45 mins. You will only need to make 1 trip to the church (you will take your photo and then immediately after, you will be able to choose your pose for the directory).
  2. What are the prices of your portraits? For individual sheets (either one 8×10, OR one 5×7 and two wallets, OR eight wallets) the cost is $30.  Our prices are 30-40% lower than a private photo studio and there are no sitting fees. Our portrait consultant will be pleased to present package options to meet your needs and budget.
  3. Can my pet be in my photo? Yes!
  4. What should I wear for my photo? Group coordinated solid colours, long sleeves and a smile.  Please come prepared for a full length photo (different poses will be taken, with at least one being full-length).

Lent Retreat Day

A HEALING JOURNEY THROUGH LENT

Led by Dr. David Reed

Saturday, February 13, 2016 – 9:00am-12 noon

The days between Ash Wednesday and Easter tell the ‘Greatest Story Ever Told.’ It’s the Story of a God who created the world out of love, Who looked at that world and said, ‘it’s good!’ It’s the story of disobedience, broken relationships and disorder, of rebellion and death.

There’s Good News. It’s the Story of a God whose love never gives up—the story of a God who heals our sin and sorrow. Lent is the Story of an incarnate God—God made flesh—who came among us, died for us, and was raised from death to bring healing to the whole world—to us, to the nations and to the whole creation.

To prepare for our Lenten journey, we will follow the healing ministry of Jesus and the Apostolic Church, signs that the reign of God has begun. We will share today’s healing stories to remind us that this kingdom of God is still unfolding before our eyes.

In Easter we will rejoice that the Great Reversal which began in a manger and on a cross will be brought to its completion in that new heaven and earth where God ‘will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death shall be no more.’

Cost: $15.00 for the morning; please email Katharine to sign up.

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday marks the start of observation of Lent, the most solemn time of the Christian Year.

Ashes are an ancient sign of penitence: from the Middle Ages it became the custom to begin Lent by marking Christians with the sign of the cross in ash on their foreheads.

Lent is traditionally marked by self-examination, fasting and preparation for Easter. It is a time when Christians reflect on the biblical account of Jesus in the wilderness (Luke 4:1-13).

Ash Wednesday services will be at 9:30am and 7:30pm.  A special Ash Wednesday service for families with children and/or teens is held at 6:30pm.  The imposition of ashes and the Eucharist will be part of all three services.
