Notice Regarding 2022 Summer Camp
May 4, 2022
Dear Friends of St. Philip’s on-the-hill,
One of the summer-time joys in the life of our church is our popular camp program. It is a delight to have the children with us to learn and grow in the knowledge of God’s amazing love. Our camp has always been well attended and staffed by excellent and caring volunteers. Regretfully we will not be able to offer our VBS camp this summer.
As you may have heard, our gifted Youth and Family Pastor, Amy DeSousa is stepping down from her position here at the church and is returning to her teaching career. Pastor Amy writes,
Summer camp will always have a warm place in my heart. Thank you for entrusting me with your kids each summer. As I move into a new career path, know that the memories, the laughs and heartfelt moments from camp will come with me as they have become part of who I am.
We as a church and we as a Unionville Community have been blessed by Pastor’s wonderful ministry. She will be deeply missed by all of the families, youth and children her creative and compassionate ministry touched. We ask God’s blessing to remain with her as she follows her path.
Despite much effort we were not able to find a camp director to lead the camp while our search process for a new Youth and Family Pastor continues. Therefore we have decided to cancel our camp for this summer and resume with a fresh start in July of 2023. We regret any inconvenience this may cause you or your children.
We are grateful for the opportunity to serve your children, your family and our community. Thank you for your understanding and support of our camp. We do look forward to seeing you next summer but hope to see you before then. You are always welcome to check out our other year -round youth and drama ministries at St. Philip’s (www.spoth.ca). Jesus said children point us in a very special way to the very kingdom of God.
May God bless you as you parent the gifts your children are.
