Lent is a time to prepare for Easter. Historically it was a time for those preparing for baptism at Easter, but now it’s a time for all baptised Christians to prepare themselves by taking time to pray, fast, and give to the poor. We encourage you to intentionally draw close to God in these 40 days (not including Sundays) before Easter. Below are a few opportunities to help you do so.
Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John Small Group – starting Tuesday, February 20 at 7pm and meeting weekly until March 27 in the Lounge at St. Philip’s led by Rev. Stephen Kern. This Lenten prayer offering of reflection has been put together by the Anglican monastic community The Brothers of St. John the Evangelist. We have ordered 30 prayer journals at a cost of $5.00 or you can download and print your own at www.meetingjesusinjohn.org.
Morning Prayer – starting Thursday, February 22 at 10am and for the 4 Thursdays following there will be Morning Prayer for half an hour led by our Family Pastor, Brian Suggs.
Lenten Retreat Day – Saturday, March 3 from 9am-1pm. Rev. Stephen Kirkegaard will led us through “Forgiveness-Living Love”. Cost is $20 and you can register by emailing Katharine at office@nullspoth.ca.
